TaxCode Bot - Your AI Agent for State & Federal Tax Laws

Quick Start Guide

A short walkthrough to help you find your way around and feel right at home.

Your First Conversation

When you open the chat, you’ll see a message box at the bottom. Since TaxCode Bot uses artificial intelligence, you don’t need to learn any complicated "computer language." You can simply type questions exactly as you would ask a friend or a professional assistant.

Example Questions for Personal Users:

  • "What is the standard deduction for a single person this year?"
  • "I moved from South Dakota to another state last year; how does that affect my filing?"
  • "Can you explain what a 1099-NEC form is for?"
  • "How do I know if I qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit?"

Using Helpful Shortcuts

While you can always chat naturally, TaxCode Bot includes a few "Power Shortcuts" that let you jump straight to specific tools. To use these, simply type a forward slash (/) followed by the command name.

  • /irs [topic]: Use this when you need a specific document. For example, typing /irs 1040 will immediately search the IRS library and give you a direct download link for the Form 1040 and its instructions.
  • /help: If you ever feel lost or want to see everything the bot can do, type this to see a friendly guide of all available tools.
  • /usage: If you want to see how many messages or "tokens" you have left in your current plan, this command will show you a simple progress bar of your account status.

Tips for the Best Results

If you are new to talking to an AI, the most important thing to remember is that context matters. The more details you provide, the more accurate the bot's assistance will be.

Instead of just typing "deductions," try being more specific, such as: "What are the common tax deductions for a homeowner who also has a side job?" This helps the bot understand your unique situation.

Important Safety Reminder

TaxCode Bot is a powerful educational research tool, but it is not a licensed tax professional. AI can sometimes make mistakes or provide outdated information as laws change.

Always verify any information you receive here with a qualified CPA or tax attorney before you officially file your taxes with the IRS or state authorities. Using this bot is a great way to learn and prepare, but your final filing is your responsibility.
